BRANDI COWIE
My name is Brandi Cowie and I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (#4886) and the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2681).
I believe that clients benefit from a strong therapeutic relationship. Building a relationship that is accepting, non-judgmental, and emphatic helps foster a client’s comfort and willingness toward change. The therapy process is tailored to meet the needs of the client and where they are at in their personal journey. As a therapist, it is my role to walk alongside the client through their journey and help guide them through self-discovery and change.
I practice from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) informed approach to therapy. Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a strong area of interest and can be utilized in work with processing traumatic or painful events or memories. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be utilized during times of uncertainty and change. Mindfulness skills, emotional regulation skills, and mind-body connection skills are interwoven throughout the therapy process.
Areas of Focus
Children, adolescences, adults.
I work with a variety of psychological difficulties including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, ADHD, parenting, post-traumatic stress, self-harm, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
